About the Meeting
The 5th International Leon Trotsky Meeting takes place from 16 to 19 November 2026 at the Rio de Janeiro State University (UERJ), Maracanã campus, in Rio de Janeiro. It is organized by GEPTH (Study and Research Group on Trotsky / Trotskyism and Historiography, Fluminense Federal University) with the support of the Institute of Social Sciences of UERJ.
Over four days, researchers, activists and intellectuals from several countries discuss the thought and legacy of Leon Trotsky and the history of Trotskyism in roundtables, thematic panels and book launches. All sessions are held in person and streamed live on YouTube.
It is the fifth edition of a series that began in Havana in 2019 and continued with online meetings in 2020 and 2021, and in São Paulo (2023), Buenos Aires (2024) and Asunción (2025).
The International Leon Trotsky Meeting stands for political pluralism: it is neither organized by nor affiliated with any particular party or group. The Organizing Committee of the 5th Meeting is made up of members of the Study and Research Group on Trotsky / Trotskyism and Historiography (GEPTH, Fluminense Federal University) together with independent activists and intellectuals and members of various organizations.

Usage guidelines
- Do not distort, crop or rotate the emblem; always scale it proportionally.
- Keep red #AE0000 as the institutional colour; do not recolour the emblem or apply filters to it.
- Leave clear space around the emblem of at least 10% of its height, free of text and other logos.
- On light or dark backgrounds use the transparent version; avoid busy photographic backgrounds.
